Pets bring joy, but also fur, paw prints and the occasional mess. You don’t need to be constantly mopping to keep a pet home clean and comfortable.

Choose washable, practical fabrics for sofa covers, cushion covers and pet bedding. Being able to throw things in the wash easily matters more than having delicate materials that look fancy.

Use doormats or small rugs near entry points where pets often come in from outside. A quick paw wipe at the door can save your floors further inside.

A handheld vacuum or good broom kept handy in main areas helps tackle fur tumbleweeds in minutes. Short, frequent clean-ups are easier than letting everything accumulate.

Designate specific zones for food and water bowls, and place mats under them. This contains spills and makes cleaning faster.

Most importantly, accept that a pet home will never look 100% showroom perfect—and that’s okay. Clean enough, fresh-smelling and comfortable for both humans and animals is a better, more realistic goal.
